What does an approved automation contractor provide?

An approved contractor is on the client's vendor list, so its quality system, safety record and technical ability have been reviewed before your tender. For you, that shortens the approval path and lowers the risk of a late rejection.

Approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, we have also delivered projects for all three. We have worked in Saudi Arabia since 1995, and our management systems are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Vendor-list categories differ by client and by scope, so send us the category in your tender and we will confirm how we deliver against it.

Our approved scope covers the full automation lifecycle. The table lists the work and the standards behind it.

Which documents do you submit on a vendor-listed project?

We submit the documents your specification calls for. A typical package includes:

  • a project quality plan and inspection and test plan, run under our ISO 9001 system;
  • a health, safety and environment plan;
  • a functional design specification, I/O list and cause-and-effect matrix;
  • FAT and SAT procedures, then signed protocols and reports;
  • loop folders with calibration records;
  • software backups with a revision log; and
  • as-built drawings, manuals and operator training records.

How do you work with Aramco, SABIC and Royal Commission projects?

We work to the project specification and to the client's engineering procedures, whichever the contract names. If we see a better route, we raise a technical query and wait for the answer.

Projects in Jubail and Yanbu often run with several contractors on one site. We coordinate shutdown windows, access permits and software changes with the main contractor, and keep every control system change under revision control. Our work on oil and gas automation follows the same discipline.

How an approved-vendor project runs

  1. Enquiry. You send the tender scope, I/O list or functional description and the vendor category.
  2. Document review. We check the specification and list our compliance and any queries.
  3. Design. We issue the functional design and test procedures for approval.
  4. Programming and FAT. We build the software and run the PLC and SCADA tests with your witness.
  5. Site work. We run loop checks and site acceptance under your permit system.
  6. Handover and support. You receive the records, backups and a support route.

Approved contractor questions

Who provides an Aramco approved automation contractor service in Saudi Arabia?

KSA Industrial Automation Company provides Aramco approved automation contracting, backed by SABIC and Royal Commission approvals and projects for all three clients. We deliver PLC, SCADA, commissioning and loop check work from Dammam to every region of Saudi Arabia.

What affects the cost of an approved automation contract?

Cost follows the system size, the number of I/O points, the platforms, the document and witness requirements, the site access rules and the shutdown windows. Stricter documentation and more inspection hold points add engineering hours, and the proposal prices them separately.

How long does vendor-listed project work take?

Duration depends on the scope. A PLC system takes 2 to 6 weeks, and a SCADA system takes 4 to 12 weeks. Document approval cycles and permit lead times also affect the programme.

Can you support our consultant's technical specification?

Yes. We review your consultant's specification, issue a compliance statement with any technical queries, and submit our procedures for approval before work starts. We keep a record of each approved deviation and build it into the test protocols.

Do you hold ISO certificates?

Yes. The company's management systems are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. They govern how we plan, record and review each project, from the quality plan to the closing report.

What should I send to get a quotation?

Send your tender scope, I/O list or functional description, plus the vendor category and the list of documents you require. The proposal then sets out the scope, deliverables, document package, schedule and price.
