KSA Industrial Automation Company provides DCS integration services in Saudi Arabia, connecting your distributed control system to package PLCs, skids, SCADA, historians and reporting tools without disturbing plant control. We engineer the interfaces, test them against your DCS, and commission them with the DCS vendor's engineers. SCADA and reporting layers typically take 4–12 weeks.
What you receive: a written proposal with the interface list, protocols, test approach, schedule and price within one working day of receiving your signal list and DCS vendor details. Request a quotation

What is the difference between DCS and SCADA?
A DCS runs a continuous process inside one plant, while SCADA supervises and collects data from many, often distant, controllers. A DCS is a single engineered system with its own controllers, operator stations and database, built for tight closed-loop control, redundancy and alarm management. SCADA sits on top of PLCs and RTUs, spread across sites, and gathers data, trends and alarms.
In practice, plants use both. The DCS controls the main process units, while package units, utilities and remote sites run on PLCs or RTUs that a SCADA layer watches. Integration joins those layers so operators see one picture. For the supervisory side, see our SCADA integration work.
DCS integration services in Saudi Arabia: what we deliver
We work at the interface between the DCS and everything around it. The DCS controller and database stay with the DCS vendor's engineers, and we work beside them.
| Service | Platforms | Standard | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| PLC and skid interfaces | Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA between package PLCs and the DCS | IEC 61131-3 | Per project schedule |
| DCS to SCADA gateway | OPC UA and Modbus links to WinCC, FactoryTalk, AVEVA (Wonderware) or Ignition | IEC 62443 basics for zones and access | SCADA 4–12 weeks |
| Historian and reporting | Tag mapping, alarm and event capture, shift and compliance reports | ISA-18.2 where relevant | Within SCADA time |
| Remote sites | DNP3, Modbus and MQTT over 4G, fibre or radio | IEC 62443 basics | 3–8 weeks |
| Interface test | Point-to-point signal list, simulated and live tests, written record | Per project ITP | Included |
| Commissioning | FAT, SAT and loop checks with the DCS vendor's team | ISA / IEC loop-check practice | Per project schedule |
| Documentation | Interface specification, tag lists, network drawings, backups | Per project | Included |
Can SCADA or a PLC exchange data with a DCS?
Yes. Data moves between a DCS and other systems through standard protocols, and which one we use depends on what your DCS supports. We select the interface for each signal group, not one link for everything.
- OPC UA or OPC DA. The usual route for supervisory data, trends and alarms toward SCADA and historians.
- Modbus TCP or serial. Simple and widely supported on package units and skids.
- Profinet, Ethernet/IP or PROFIBUS gateways. Where the package PLC and the DCS speak different fieldbuses.
- Hardwired signals. For trips, permissives and any signal where a communication fault must not matter.
Network zones and access rules follow IEC 62443 basics, so a link into the DCS does not widen your exposure. Where the DCS is an ABB system, our ABB PLC integration work covers the AC500 side of that boundary. For packages such as compressors, the controls are covered under compressor and skid control.
How is a DCS integration project run?
We fix the signal list first, because every later step depends on it.
- Enquiry. You send the I/O or signal list, P&IDs and the DCS vendor and version.
- Site data. We confirm the protocols the DCS supports and the network, security and access rules.
- Design. We issue the interface specification: signals, protocols, update rates, alarm handling and fail-safe behaviour.
- Programming. We build the PLC, gateway and SCADA sides and map every tag.
- FAT. We test each signal against a simulator or the DCS test system and issue the record.
- SAT and commissioning. On site we repeat the tests live with the DCS vendor's engineers during a window you approve.
- Documentation. You receive the interface specification, tag lists, drawings and backups.
- Support. We stay available through the first weeks of operation.
Who we integrate DCS interfaces for
KSA Industrial Automation Company has worked in Saudi Arabia since 1995 and is approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. We have carried out projects for all three, under systems certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
DCS sites in the Kingdom are mostly refineries, petrochemical units, power and desalination plants, and large utilities. Their packages, remote stations and reporting systems need to join the DCS cleanly. We take projects in all regions of Saudi Arabia, including Jubail and Yanbu, where we have worked on projects for the Royal Commission. Typical sectors are described under oil and gas automation.
DCS integration questions answered
Who provides DCS integration services in Saudi Arabia?
KSA Industrial Automation Company provides DCS integration services from its base in Al Shati, Dammam, for plants in every region of Saudi Arabia. We are approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission, and we work alongside the DCS vendor's engineers on site.
What affects the cost of DCS integration?
Cost follows the number of signals, the protocols involved, whether the DCS vendor must open its system for testing, the security and network requirements, the SCADA and reporting scope and the test windows available. A signal list lets the proposal price each interface separately.
How long does DCS integration take?
SCADA and reporting layers typically take 4–12 weeks, and remote-site links 3–8 weeks. Interface work on a single package is shorter. The deciding factors are signal count, access to the DCS for testing and how quickly the vendor confirms the interface details.
Can SCADA control a DCS?
SCADA can read from a DCS and, where you allow it, write setpoints or commands to defined tags. We configure which tags are writable, who can write them and how every command is logged. Most plants keep control in the DCS and use SCADA for supervision and reporting.
Do you replace the DCS itself?
We integrate with your existing DCS rather than replace it. Controller configuration and DCS database changes stay with the DCS vendor, while we deliver the interfaces, package controls, SCADA, historian and reporting around it, and we coordinate the test windows with the vendor's team.
What should I send to get a quotation?
Send the signal or I/O list, the DCS make and version, the P&IDs or a functional description, the protocols you expect and your commissioning window. If the signal list is not ready, a package P&ID is enough to start. The proposal then sets out scope, schedule and price.
