KSA Industrial Automation Company provides SCADA integration in Saudi Arabia for water utilities, process plants and industrial sites that need one supervisory view across many PLCs, RTUs and field devices. We select the platform, connect the controllers, build the screens, historian and reports, and commission the system so that your operators trust the numbers they see.
What you receive: a written proposal with the architecture, platform, tag count, deliverables and programme within one working day of receiving your P&IDs, I/O list or existing system details. Request a quotation

What a SCADA system integrator builds
SCADA means supervisory control and data acquisition. The PLCs and RTUs control the process locally. The SCADA layer collects their data, shows it to operators, stores history, raises alarms and issues supervisory commands. Our scope covers each layer of that stack.
| Item | Platforms / range | Standard | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| SCADA platforms | WinCC Professional and WinCC OA, FactoryTalk, AVEVA (Wonderware), Ignition | ISA-101 screens, ISA-18.2 alarms | 4–12 weeks |
| Device communication | Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, DNP3, OPC UA, MQTT | Protocol specification of each device | Included in the programme |
| Historian and trends | Tag logging, retention rules, long-term archive and export | Your data retention policy | Per tag count |
| Reports | Shift, daily and monthly reports, with export to PDF or spreadsheet | Your report templates | Per report count |
| Alarm management | Priorities, acknowledgement, shelving and alarm history | ISA-18.2 where relevant | Included |
| Cybersecurity basics | Zoning, role-based access, patching approach and hardened servers | IEC 62443 basics | Included |
The duration depends on tag count, the number of stations or sites, and how many third-party devices must be integrated. A single-site system with a few thousand tags sits towards the lower end.
What does a SCADA system do?
A SCADA system gathers readings from controllers, displays them on operator screens, stores history for trends and reports, raises alarms when values leave their limits, and sends commands such as start, stop and set point changes. It does not replace the PLC. If the SCADA server stops, the PLCs keep controlling the process, and the operators lose visibility until it returns. For that reason we design the servers, networks and failover to match how critical the plant is.
Is SCADA a PLC system?
SCADA and PLC are different layers that work together. The PLC executes control logic in milliseconds, close to the equipment. The SCADA layer sits above it and collects data from many PLCs at once, usually at one-second or slower rates. A small site may use a PLC with a local HMI and no SCADA at all. A large plant or a distributed water network needs SCADA to see everything in one place. Our PLC programming and HMI development work provide the two layers beneath it.
How do we connect SCADA to existing PLCs and RTUs?
We start by listing every device, protocol and address, then test communication before building any screens. Modern controllers speak OPC UA, Profinet or Ethernet/IP. Older ones may need a serial gateway or a Modbus converter. Remote sites report over 4G, fibre or radio using DNP3 or Modbus, as described under RTU and telemetry. Where several vendors are involved, we normalise tag names so the historian, alarms and reports use a single naming scheme.
How is a SCADA system designed, built and commissioned?
- Enquiry. You send the P&IDs, I/O or tag list, network layout and any existing SCADA backup.
- Architecture. We propose servers, clients, redundancy, network zones and the number of licences, and issue the architecture drawing.
- Tag database. We build the tag list, alarm list and historian configuration with your naming convention.
- Screen and report build. Operator pages, trends and reports are built on the chosen platform from the agreed templates.
- Software FAT. The system runs against simulated controllers while your team reviews screens, alarms and reports.
- Site installation. We install the servers, connect live controllers, and prove each signal end to end.
- Cut-over and training. For an upgrade we run the old and new systems in parallel before switching, then train operators and maintenance staff.
- Support. Backups, patching advice and remote support continue after handover. See our control system commissioning page for the SAT stage.
Where our SCADA systems run
KSA Industrial Automation Company has worked in Saudi Arabia since 1995 and is approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. We have worked on projects for all three.
SCADA suits pump stations, treatment plants and distributed utilities, and tank farms and compressor stations in oil, gas and chemicals. See the water treatment SCADA page for one worked scope. We take SCADA projects in every region of Saudi Arabia, with remote support available the same day.
SCADA integration questions
Who provides SCADA integration in Saudi Arabia?
KSA Industrial Automation Company provides SCADA integration in Saudi Arabia from its Dammam base, on WinCC, FactoryTalk, AVEVA and Ignition. We have been active since 1995 and have worked on projects for Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission.
How much does a SCADA system cost?
The cost follows tag count, the number of stations and sites, server redundancy, the platform licence model, the number of third-party device drivers, the reports required and the testing demanded. A licence-light platform lowers recurring cost. Send your tag list or I/O list and the proposal prices each factor separately.
How long does a SCADA project take?
Most SCADA projects take four to twelve weeks. The range depends on tag count, the number of sites, the amount of new graphics and how quickly you approve the tag database and screen plan. Parallel running during an upgrade adds a few days to the programme.
Can you upgrade our existing SCADA without stopping the plant?
Yes. We back up the current system, rebuild it on a new server, test it against the live controllers in read-only mode, and run both side by side. Operators switch when the new screens and alarms match the old behaviour. The PLCs keep controlling the plant throughout the change.
How do you protect a SCADA system from cyber threats?
We apply the basics from IEC 62443: separate network zones, role-based user accounts, removal of unused services, controlled remote access and a documented backup and patching routine. Security is part of the design stage, because adding it after commissioning costs more and disturbs operations.
What should I send to get a quotation?
Send your P&IDs, I/O or tag list, a network sketch and the details of any existing SCADA. We confirm the platform, the architecture and the programme in a written proposal within one working day.
