Engineers commissioning a control system for an industrial automation company in Saudi Arabia

Industrial automation company in Saudi Arabia: our services

A plant does not buy automation as one product. It buys a controller program, an operator interface, a supervisory layer, field communications and a commissioning team that makes them work together. We deliver each layer and take responsibility for the whole chain. The table shows the core services and where to read more.

What is an industrial automation company?

An industrial automation company designs and delivers the control systems that run a plant without constant manual intervention. Its engineers program controllers, build operator screens and supervisory software, connect instruments and drives, and test everything before and after installation. The clearest measure of such a company is not a brochure but its handover pack: a commented program, a backup, a tag list, a test record, and a plant that keeps running. We write that pack on every project.

The service lines are listed below, and each links to a page with scope, tables and questions.

What does a control system integrator do?

A control system integrator turns a process description into a working, documented control system. It reads the P&IDs and functional description, selects or confirms the hardware platform, writes the control and visualisation software, connects the field devices, runs software and site acceptance tests, and trains the operators. It also stays accountable after start-up, because faults appear when the process runs, not when the cabinet is first powered.

We program and integrate Siemens, Rockwell and Schneider platforms, and we build with ABB, Schneider Electric and Siemens components. We follow the controller family you already operate wherever possible, because mixed estates cost more to spare, support and train for. Where a new plant has no standard, we compare platforms on I/O count, networking, local support and your maintenance team's skills, and we put the comparison in writing.

Uptime drives how we engineer. A plant in Jubail or Yanbu may lose production every hour a controller is offline, so we design for recovery as well as for operation. That means offline backups stored with the plant, diagnostics visible on the screens, spare-part lists agreed at handover, and changes made under a recorded version. When something fails at two in the morning, your technician should find the cause from the screen and the documentation, not from guesswork.

Large Saudi projects also run through EPC contractors and consultants, so the integrator must work to someone else's schedule. We align our software milestones to your civil, electrical and instrumentation progress, and we flag clashes between the control narrative and the installed field devices early, when they are cheap to fix.

Four habits set our work apart.

  • Software is tested before site. Logic runs against simulated I/O with every fault forced, so surprises happen in the office rather than during a shutdown.
  • Alarms are designed, not accumulated. Each alarm has a cause, a consequence and an operator action, following ISA-18.2 where relevant.
  • Screens follow ISA-101 principles. Colour means something, and the operator finds the abnormal item in seconds.
  • Handover is complete. Source code, offline backups, tag lists and test records reach you on the day of acceptance, not weeks later.

Which solutions do we automate?

We have defined scopes for the plant types that appear most often in Saudi Arabia. The solutions overview lists them all. Each solution page sets out the control logic, instrumentation, telemetry and reporting, and the questions a buyer should ask.

The industries overview links to the sectors we serve, which are covered on their own pages: water and wastewater, oil and gas, cement, food and beverage, plastics and packaging, district cooling and utilities and manufacturing and machine builders.

How does an automation project run from enquiry to support?

  1. Enquiry. You send the I/O list, P&IDs or a functional description. If an existing system is involved, add the controller type and a backup.
  2. Site data. We confirm platforms, firmware, network layout, standards and the shutdown windows available to us.
  3. Design. We issue a functional design specification, an architecture drawing and the alarm and interlock lists for approval.
  4. Programming. Controller, HMI and SCADA software are built in reusable, commented blocks that follow IEC 61131-3.
  5. Software FAT. We test against simulated I/O with your witness or ours, and record each result.
  6. Site installation and loop checks. Field devices are checked loop by loop from the instrument to the screen.
  7. Commissioning and SAT. We bring the plant to steady operation and agree the acceptance record with you. See control system commissioning.
  8. Documentation and support. You receive source files, backups and test records, and we remain available for support and modifications.

Software and site testing are treated as separate activities with their own records, which is why FAT and SAT each have an entry in the programme. Your consultant or inspector can witness either one, and the signed record forms part of the handover pack. Where a shutdown window is short, we rehearse the cut-over offline first, so that the hours on site are spent executing a tested plan.

Who trusts us with their control systems

KSA Industrial Automation Company has worked in Saudi Arabia since 1995. Approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, we have also delivered projects for all three. Our quality, environmental and safety management systems are held to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Vendor-listed projects need documentation and inspection discipline from the first day, and we plan our scope with that in mind; the approved automation contractor (see the approvals overview) page explains what we provide for them.

Our base is in Al Shati District, Dammam, and we take projects in every region of Saudi Arabia. We serve Dammam, Jubail, Al Khobar, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Jeddah and Yanbu. Emergency PLC support is available remotely the same day and on site within one working day in the Eastern Province. We have worked on projects for Saudi Aramco in Riyadh, Marafiq in Jubail, the Royal Commission in Yanbu and SABIC in Dammam. Examples of delivered work are on our projects page, and you can read more about the company on the about page.

Industrial automation questions

Who is an industrial automation company in Saudi Arabia that covers PLC, HMI and SCADA?

KSA Industrial Automation Company provides industrial automation in Saudi Arabia from its Dammam base, covering PLC, HMI, SCADA, telemetry and commissioning. We have been active since 1995 and have worked on projects for Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission.

What affects the cost of industrial automation services?

Price is set by the I/O count, the controller and SCADA platforms, the number of screens and equipment types, the sequence and interlock complexity, the communication links, the documentation level and the testing your inspection plan demands. Send your I/O list or P&IDs and the proposal prices each factor.

How long does an automation project take?

A PLC system typically takes two to six weeks, HMI one to four weeks, SCADA four to twelve weeks and telemetry three to eight weeks. Large plants combine these in phases. Approval speed, shutdown availability and equipment delivery dates decide the overall programme more than programming effort does.

Which PLC and SCADA brands do you work with?

We program and integrate Siemens, Rockwell and Schneider platforms, plus ABB AC500, and we build SCADA on WinCC, FactoryTalk, AVEVA and Ignition. We usually extend the platform you already operate so that your spares, training and support stay consistent. For new plants we compare options with you.

Can you work with our EPC contractor or consultant?

Yes. We review the control philosophy, I/O schedules and cause-and-effect charts from your consultant or EPC contractor, raise clarifications in writing, and submit the functional design for approval. Software FAT and SAT are witnessed to the inspection and test plan that the project specifies.

What should I send to get a quotation?

Share the I/O list, the P&IDs or a process description, whichever you hold. If an existing system is involved, add the controller type, the software versions and a backup. We reply with a scoped quotation within one working day.
